Our Guide
to the dizzying array of pieces that might be a part of your invitation suite. We’re happy to guide you through the process, but we thought that you’d like a bit of information to girde yourself for the big day.

Save the Date card Save The Date
A Save the Date card is sent to guests anywhere from a year to several months before the wedding. They are particularly useful if you are planning a destination wedding, or if many of your guests will be traveling from a distance. An additional card with travel and hotel information is sometimes included. Generally 4.25” x 5”, though other sizes are also common.
Invitation
This is it—the most important part of the invitation suite! Invitations are traditionally 5” x 7”, though other sizes are now common. The invitation includes the most important details about your wedding: your parents' names, the bride and groom, the location and time of your wedding, and possibly reception information. (If there is extensive information about the reception, an additional reception card may be included.)
Announcement
Similar to an invitation, this piece is sent to friends and family who do not receive an invitation. If you’ve lost your head and eloped in Venice, if your budget dictates a small wedding (but your families are anything but small), these are a lovely way of announcing your wedding.
Invitation Envelope
All of our invitations include printed envelopes (included in the invitation price). These are available in several colors to complement your wedding suite. We love the long rounded flap on these envelopes, which is both elegant and modern. We can add a coordinating envelope liner for an additional fee.
Double Envelopes
When wedding invitations were delivered by hand, an outer envelope was used to keep the grime of the outdoors from ruining the invitation. When the carriage driver arrived at the door, he’d remove the outer envelope and present the pristine one to the guests. They can serve much of the same service today, protecting an inner envelope from the perils of the post office. They are also a discrete way to invite only a portion of a household. Note, though, that our outer envelopes are only available in white and cream.
Response Cards & Envelope
The small (3 1/2” x 5”) response card includes an envelope printed with your address, to be returned by your guests. It includes information about who will attend, and sometimes their choice of entrees at the reception.
Response Postcard
A streamlined alternative to a response card and envelope, a postcard can be sent without an envelope. It can be a whimsical and informal response, and the lack of envelope makes it cost effective, as well. Either 2-sided or single sided.
Map/Directions Card
An additional card can be included with the invitation suite to provide travel information to your guests, including hotel information, directions to the ceremony and reception, a map of the area, and additional information. We can design a custom map to match your invitation suite.
Reception Card
If the reception requires complex information, or is at a different location from the ceremony, you might consider a reception card to avoid crowding the invitation itself.
Additional Information Cards
Are you holding a rehearsal dinner for your guests? Are there several parties before and after the wedding day to which your guests need information? Would you like to direct guests to your website? Additional cards can be included to provide this information.
Thank You Notes
Sent out in response to wedding gifts, these cards can be a beautiful addition to the wedding stationery suite. We offer both flat and folded notes.
  Wedding Day Stationary
In addition to the invitation suite, we can provide matching stationery for your big day, including menus, programs, seating cards, place cards, and table numbers.
